Nightmare on Center Avenue My wife told me that the Video rental shop on Center Avenue called my house while I was at work today demanding twenty bux for a DVD that they said my Family scratched. Well, if my Family scratched it, I sure would want to pay for it so I asked my kids if they did it and they told me no. We watched the movie once at home on Saturday and my son Robert took it back either that night or the next day. I went up to the store to talk to the owner and she said that their policy is if someone complains that the DVD is broken or scratched, the previous renter is responsible for the damaged DVD. I explained how I personally witnessed the DVD go into my DVD player and watched it eject and go back into the DVD carrier. When I asked to see the DVD the owner showed it to me and the outside edge of the DVD was scratched pretty bad. I’ve seen that type of disc damage before and it happens when someone has a malfunctioning DVD player and it ejects the DVD while it is still spinning at 3600 RPM and they attempt to pick it up. Here comes the good part: I asked the owner how they was so sure it was my family and not the renter after me that scratched the DVD and she said “well I know the people very good and they are Christians and honest.” I said, “Are you implying that I’m not a Christian and I am not honest?” and she said, No, but if you don’t pay me $20 for that DVD I don’t want your business anymore. I started to tell her I’ve been doing business with Hollywood Nights for the last 20 years or so and she then told me to go F myself and to get out. My family has givin that business thousands of dollars over the years and to dispense with a good customer (wrongfully I might add) for a twenty dollar bill is really stupid. She also kept screaming “I know Larry Richards, I know Larry Richards.” while shooting me the middle finger. Well I’m not sure who this Larry Richards person is but he must be awfully important for me to give a damn. Good luck in business to the new owners of Hollywood Nights, with that kind of business ethics, your gonna need all the luck you can get to survive in business. This is the first bad experience with this particular store but I can guarantee that I will never give that business another nickel. I'll save money and get much better customer service over at Netflix anyhow.
